Open Play | National Mah Jongg League Rules Mondays, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM $20 per seat Join us for relaxed, social Open Play at the Ozark Mah Jongg Studio. This is purely open play, designed for players who already know the game and want table time in a friendly, well-run setting. This is not an instructional class. Players must be able to play independently using National Mah Jongg League rules. How to Book Click BOOK NOW, select your date, and adjust the quantity to reserve one seat or multiple seats. Book a single seat and we’ll pair you with new friends Book four seats to reserve a table for your group When signing up, please indicate your preferred level of play so we can seat tables thoughtfully. Play Levels Beginner: Charleston takes 5 minutes or more Intermediate: Charleston takes under 5 minutes Advanced: Charleston takes 3 minutes or less We’ll make every effort to match players by pace and experience. Ozark Mah Jongg Open Play Policy Agreement Open Play at Ozark Mah Jongg is designed to provide a welcoming, well-run environment for players who are able to play independently using National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules, as outlined in Mah Jongg Made Easy and the current NMJL card. By registering for Open Play, all participants agree to the following: ELIGIBILITY Open Play is not instructional. Players must be able to play independently and follow NMJL rules without coaching. Familiarity with the current NMJL card, Charleston procedures, and standard game flow is expected. RULES OF PLAY All games follow National Mah Jongg League rules as presented in Mah Jongg Made Easy, unless otherwise noted. Rule interpretation during Open Play will be guided by NMJL standards to ensure consistency and fairness. House decisions regarding rule interpretation are final during Open Play. SPORTSMANSHIP & CONDUCT Players are expected to conduct themselves with good sportsmanship, patience, and respect for fellow players. Mah Jongg is a social game. Courtesy, calm communication, and good table manners are required. Disruptive behavior, excessive rule disputes, or unsportsmanlike conduct may result in removal from Open Play without refund. PACE OF PLAY Open Play tables are grouped by general experience level when possible. Players agree to maintain a reasonable pace of play that respects the time and experience of others at the table. SEATING & PAIRINGS Players may book a single seat or reserve multiple seats. Solo players will be paired at the discretion of the studio. We make every effort to seat players by similar pace and experience, but exact matchups cannot be guaranteed. STUDIO ENVIRONMENT Ozark Mah Jongg reserves the right to manage seating, table assignments, and game flow to ensure a positive experience for all participants. Open Play is intended to be enjoyable, fair, and well-organized for everyone in attendance. A SHARED TABLE Our goal is to foster a Mah Jongg community rooted in respect, inclusivity, fairness, and enjoyment of the game. Above all else, Ozark Mah Jongg was made for everyone. Players are expected to treat one another with compassion and kindness at all times. Thank you for helping us create a great table.
